Ratnagiri settlement study

Heading 4

Ratnagiri was all about  to explore the coastal community at Mirya village .With the Arabian Sea on one side and the Sayadari Mountains on the other, Ratnagiri is largely a fishing village. The building form in this location of our site is closely packed, with courts and open spaces mixed together. These provide substantial regions where the regular fishing  activities flow out. People could freely travel between the homes in the vastis  since there were no  partitions separating them. One backyard connected to the front yard of another house. Cooking, using the bathroom, and drying fish were among the many chores that were done outside the home. Older residences, which are largely ground-story structures with sloping tiled roofs and wooden columns, are two to three storeys tall, flat-roofed, and built of RCC.

We split up into groups and studied topics including the economics, different housing options, building techniques, and cultural artefacts. Each group was asked to draw out the observations from their given sites .
By combining the drawings from  groups, to create a single map of Ratnagiri, we conjured up our journey to Ratnagiri.
